Code of ethical conduct and editorial practices

1. Editorial ethics

The Security and Land Power Magazine understands the importance and responsibility of publishing research articles. Therefore, the articles received go through a process in which authors, editors, and reviewers are involved. In this sense, to try to ensure that the information presented in the articles is accurate and reliable, as well as that good behavior and procedures are preserved, the Security and Land Power Magazine is guided by the norms and codes of ethics of the National Code of Scientific Integrity and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), as well as by the declaration of the principles of transparency and good practices in academic publishing.

2. Responsibilities of the General Editor

a. The General Editor is responsible for the final decision on the contents to be published in the Security and Land Power Magazine. This decision is made objectively, based on the assessments of the peer reviewers and without consideration of the profession, race, gender, citizenship, political or sexual orientation, religious belief, or the language of the authors.

b. The General Editor, the members of the Editorial Board, the Advisory Board, and the editorial team undertake not to use the content of the articles sent to the Security and Land Power Magazine for their benefit, except with the explicit written consent of the author. Likewise, they will inform the General Editor about any possible conflict of interest due to being related to any of the authors or institutions associated with the articles.

c. The General Editor, the members of the Editorial Board, the Advisory Board, and the editorial team undertake not to divulge information about the articles submitted to the Security and Land Power Magazine to people other than the authors.

d. Communication with the authors is carried out only by the General Editor or the Editorial Coordinator, through institutional emails and the OJS platform of the Security and Land Power Magazine.

e. The General Editor is responsible for receiving and resolving questions, complaints, or claims concerning the contents of the Security and Land Power Magazine, its editorial management, and the publication process. Before making a final decision, the General Editor may seek advice from the members of the Editorial Board and the Advisory Board.

3. Responsibilities of peer reviewers (reviewers)

a. The peer reviewers commit to advising the General Editor, the members of the Editorial Board, and the Advisory Board to make objective decisions, based on their criteria and professional experience, on the articles sent to the Security and Land Power Magazine. Equally, they will help authors improve the quality of their articles with constructive suggestions.

b. The peer reviewers must diligently process the articles assigned for review, duly notifying the General Editor when they are not considered qualified to fulfill their task or when they consider they cannot complete it within the allotted time.

c. The peer reviewers will objectively conduct the reviews of the assigned articles and will express their opinions with supporting arguments, not having to divulge information about the articles presented to the Security and Land Power Magazine.

d. The peer reviewers agree not to use the content of the articles sent to the Security and land Power Magazine for their benefit, except with the explicit written consent of the author. Likewise, they will inform the General Editor about any possible conflict of interest because of connection with any of the institutions associated with the articles.

e. The peer reviewers will notify the General Editor of those cases in which they find content that has not been properly or correctly referenced in the assigned articles.

4. Responsibilities of the authors

a. The primary author is the person who sends it to the Security and Land Power Magazine through the OJS platform unless otherwise indicated. For all purposes, this person will act on behalf of the other authors. In this sense, the principal author will guarantee that only those who have made a significant contribution to the research carried out appear as co-authors of the article. Likewise, he will verify that all the authors approve the changes requested by the peer reviewers, in case the article is accepted for publication.

b. The authors who publish their articles in Security and Land Power Magazine retain moral rights over the work. For the publication of the article, the authors agree to assign their economic rights in favor of the Security and Land Power Magazine under a Creative Commons license.

c. The authors must provide all the data used for the preparation of their article to verify the validity of their results. Likewise, they must guarantee access to said information by other professionals, through a data repository or other means of contact.

d. Authors will only submit original and unpublished articles that have not been previously published and that have not been submitted to other journals or editorial bodies. The authors will guarantee the correct citation and reference of all the sources used in the writing of their article.

e. The authors will certify that they have complied with the code of conduct and editorial practices of Security and Land Power Magazine, to demonstrate objectivity and transparency in their research. Likewise, they will follow the principles of professional ethics, identifying their sources of financing and possible conflicts of interest. If the research involved people, information about informed consent should be included; Similarly, if the research used animals, the actions developed to ensure their welfare must be stated.

5. Plagiarism and misconduct

On the one hand, plagiarism is defined as the appropriation of the ideas, processes, results, or words of another person without giving the corresponding credit. On the other hand, fraud and misconduct include -among others- the fabrication and falsification of data or results. The Security and Land Power Magazine does not tolerate these activities, for which it has established a series of mechanisms to avoid and correct them:

a. During the editorial process, in addition to the opinion of peers, the Security and Land Power Magazine uses a text comparison software, by what is established in its editorial process, called Turnitin.

b. After its publication, if the Security and Land Power Magazine detects or is alerted and confirms cases of plagiarism, fraud, or misconduct, it will proceed according to the guidelines and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE - http://publicationethics.org/).
